Janet Rodgers qualified in 1980 in Colorado and practiced for three years before returning to acadaemia. After earning a Master's degree in microbiology and immunology, she moved on to a research career in reconstructive surgery at the University of Kentucky. Switching to laboratory animal medicine, she passed the ACLAM board exams in 2002 and became the Attending Veterinarian at the University of Kentucky. She moved to Oxford in 2006 to take up a post as Deputy NVS, passed the ECLAM boards in 2010 and became a dual citizen in 2011. She served for a short time as NVS before taking early retirement in 2012 to study evidence-based healthcare at Oxford, for which she earned another MSc in 2016. She is now the ECLAM Secretariat and spends her free time writing systematic reviews.
